March 21, 2025 – Week 12
Catalyst
In some ways, it’s easier to show compassion to those who can’t hurt us. But what about those who do? Compassion does not draw a line.
Insight
Animals, children, and people we’ve never met might feel like “safe” recipients of compassion. They don’t often judge or wound us in return. But directing compassion toward those who have hurt us is the harder, braver challenge, one that asks us to embody forgiveness and empathy.
This doesn’t mean tolerating harm or opening ourselves to continued mistreatment. It means recognizing that pain is often cyclical, and choosing compassion can be a way to break that cycle. Extending understanding—not excusing, but seeking peace—can free both parties to grow.
Reflection
Is there someone in your life right now who has made showing compassion difficult? What would it look like to extend understanding to them without losing your own boundaries?
