February 15, 2025 – Week 7
Catalyst
Rediscover the distinction between hope and expectation.
Insight
Sometimes we mistake hope for expectation. We start to believe that if we hope for something, life owes it to us. But expectations can trap us by making us resentful when outcomes don’t line up perfectly with what we visualized.
Hope is different. It’s not rigid or transactional, and it doesn’t demand guarantees. Hope moves with flexibility, allowing us to adapt rather than cling. Practicing hope instead of expectation frees us to find gratitude for what unfolds, even if it wasn’t what we initially wanted.
Reflection
Where have your expectations turned into disappointment? How might you reframe them with hope instead?
